Maria Oralia Avalos, known to everyone as Yaya, a hardworking mother dedicated to her family, unexpectedly passed on December 26, 2019 at the age of 74, while spending time with family in Red Oak, Texas.
Yaya is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Maricela and Ernesto Hurtado, Bartolo and Eva Delgadillo, Veronica Delgadillo, Guadalupe and Lisa Avalos, Antonio Avalos; her beloved grandchildren; Victoria, Jacqueline, Luis, Vivian, Luke, Antonio, Ernesto, Jr., Christian, Lauren Ashley, Lorenzo, Ashley, Monique, Destany; and great grandchildren; Aiden, Paul, Leah and Lilah; her younger sister, Concepcion Ornelas and two brothers Jose Francisco Alvarez and Juan Roel Alvarez. She is predeceased by her husband Lorenzo Delgadillo; her parents Jose Alvarez and Maria Luisa Garza; her beloved aunt Rafaela Alvarez; siblings Guadalupe Ayala, Silvestre Alvarez, Gilberto Alvarez, Edna Guerra, Adolfo Alvarez, Mary Lou Rodriguez and Armando Alvarez.
Yaya was born in Los Barreras, Rio Grande City, Texas on February 24, 1945 to Jose Alvarez and Maria Luisa Garza. On November 1965, she married her childhood friend and sweetheart, Lorenzo Delgadillo. On September 7, 1966, she welcomed her first of five children. In 1969, the family visited Dallas and decided to make Dallas their new and permanent home. Most of the younger siblings soon followed and made Dallas their home too. In May 30, 1985, she was made a first time grandmother. Her family was a very important part of her long and joyous life.
She was a hard worker of the restaurant industry for over thirty years with her three sisters; Guadalupe Ayala, Mary Lou Rodriguez and Concepcion Ornelas. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and an avid novela watcher. She enjoyed bingo and catching up with her sister-in-law’s, family and friends. She was a God fearing woman, who enjoyed attending mass and giving back to the church. She could cook like no one else and always had an open door to anyone who needed a place to stay for however long they needed.
Rosary was held at Hughes Funeral home on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Dallas, Texas and on Thursday, January 2, 2020, Rosary will be held at Rodriguez Funeral Home, in Roma Texas at 6:00 PM. Mass will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the La Rosita Church at 10:00 AM. She wished to have her remains placed at Los Barrera’s Cemetery next to her childhood sweetheart, Lorenzo.
Yaya will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Life without her will never be the same.
