Carlos Israel Canales, Jr. of Salineno, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 after reaching the age of 78 years old. After beating cancer twice and battling Parkinson's disease, he finally passed on peacefully to meet the Lord in Heaven.
Carlos was born on March 14, 1942 in Salineno, TX to Carlos and Isidra Canales. He attended Roma High School and graduated in 1961, going on to serve in the United States Army. He married his wife Cristina in 1966 and began his family. He was a hardworking man and enjoyed prosperous careers with Southwestern Bell and the United States Postal Service. After living in many cities including Lansing, Michigan, Dallas, and Houston, Carlos came back to Salineno where he built his family's home.
Carlos was a funny, selfless, generous, smart, and caring man who loved his family more than anything. He was known to pick up the phone and call you just to make sure you were doing well and then pass the phone on to Cristina. He enjoyed going to the ranch, cracking jokes, watching the news, and spending time with his family.
He will be greatly missed and his memory will always live on with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Isidra Canales and sisters Olga Canales, Ofelia Canales, and Olivia "Lile" Moreno. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cristina Canales, children: Ana Luisa Reyna (Roel), Yvette Eliza Chapa (Eduardo), Vanessa Canales (Victor), Alex Canales (Linda) and grandchildren: Susan Beliz (Mario), Christine Canales, Victor Canales III, Alex Michael Canales, Velia Canales, Vivien Canales, Lilliana Canales, Eduardo Chapa III, Ricardo Reyna, and Carlos Canales, as well as his brothers Homero Canales (Esmeralda), Eden Canales (Guillermina), and Eulalia Cavazos (Jose Angel) as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
